The novel Sky Children centers around the adventures and tribulations in the life of Zechariah Jacobs, an electrical engineer that crash lands on an ‘unexplored’ planet, only to uncover a terrifying government conspiracy to hide the existence of the Mind Fire virus, which grants magic powers to those infected by it.

Even worse, the Imperial Intelligence Core will do just about anything to hide the existence of the virus, including nuking their own colonies, from orbit. In point of fact, such a tragedy once happened on Zechariah’s new home world, using the guise of a quarantine to corral the witnesses, for extermination.

With the aid of a local dwarf “history miner”, Zechariah unearths buried technology from the days of the colony that was, as well as the awful facts of the conspiracy. For a time, he’s content to teach his new people about technology, but when they discover a star ship, Zechariah’s conscience compels him to go further and do more, to tell his old people what the government has been hiding for thousands of years.

Needless to say, the conspirators in the Imperial Intelligence Core will most certainly have a strong opinion on the matter…
